Authorities arrested 10 people and seized more than $200,000 and 600 pounds of dried marijuana in a drug bust authorities believe may be tied to international trafficking. Humboldt County Sheriff’s office Lt. Dave Morey tells the Times-Standard of Eureka that those arrested Wednesday include people from Bulgaria, Ukraine and Thailand who may be involved in the trafficking.
Authorities are holding 56-year-old Stanislaw Kopiej, a German-born U.S. citizen who they called the prime suspect, on $400,000 bail. Deputies found marijuana plants, dried marijuana, firearms and more than $175,000 cash at his Hydesville home and arrested four people total there.
Investigators also found $30,000-transfers from Kopiej to a bank in Thailand. Morey said six others were arrested at another house tied to the operation.
