President Obama is going to be in the San Francisco on 4/21 – not 4/20 as previously reported – and it gives medical marijuana patients who have been continually lied to by the President a chance to let him know how disappointed they are in him. In fact, Americans for Safe Access is planning a rally on the morning of 4/21 outside a hotel that the President is going to be at.
President Obama will be in town to kick off his re-election campaign, and it is time for us to hold him accountable for his broken promises. Join Americans for Safe Access and other community members to rally for patient rights on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 7:30am. President Obama is scheduled to appear at a “Breakfast with the President” function at 8am. This is the time to pull our community together, express our displeasure with Obama’s lack of regard for your community, and demand that he live up to his promises.

President Obama doesn’t care about medical marijuana patients, but you can be certain he cares about his re-election. We must make him see that the cannabis community will abandon him in 2012 if we don’t see some concrete changes. No more talking, no more lies; actual policy change that will get the feds out of the business of dictating state law.
If we don’t see actual change before November 2012, we must be united in rejecting Obama as President.
Knowing the President, he will begin to feed us a lot of platitudes about what he’s going to do in his second term. No go, Mr. President. Fool us once, shame on you, fool us twice, shame on us.
And for those of you who say the President can’t change marijuana policy on his own, let me point out that he has complete authority over his own Justice Department. One order from him would stop the raids and federal meddling dead in its tracks. But he chooses not to give that order.
We should vote for someone who will give that order in 2012.
Note: Just after I had written this post, but before it was published, I got an email from ASA. They corrected the date for the rally, and also pointed out the excerpt I took from SF Weekly in the 4/20 story said “to make signs and smoke pot.” The article now says “and strategize” instead of “and smoke pot.” It’s interesting that the original article said “smoke pot” when the ASA says they never said anything like that. Maybe it’s just a product of cannabis stereotypes creeping their way into an article. In any event, take note that the rally will take place on April 21st.
