Angry Birds is flinging its way towards Facebook and beyond. Initially investing 100,000 Euros into the game, Angry Birds developer Rovio is now raking in over 50 million Euros with paid game downloads, ads, and toys, according to an article in Wired. The franchise is set to hit Facebook soon, and according to Rovio’s Chief Executive Mikael Hed, “There will be completely new aspects to it that just haven’t been experienced on any other platform.”
The original Angry Birds is also heading for the Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 consoles. Hed also mentioned that new titles, such as driving and sports games, featuring Angry Birds characters aren’t out of the question. Apparently there are also plans for a TV series, a movie, comics, and more.
I’m going to be honest and say I’ve never spent more than about ten minutes playing Angry Birds. What do you think about this “Disney 2.0” mentality that Rovio has with the iOS developed game?
