Broncos Laurence Maroney Arrested on Drugs, Weapons Charges

ST. LOUIS, MO — A spokesperson for Denver Bronco Laurence Maroney says the police made a big mistake when they arrested her client.  But the St. Louis police tell a different story.  Maroney was among five people arrested Monday night  for suspicion of drugs and weapons violations.

The arrest happened after police say three cars were spotting circling the Chaifetz area. Officers say several people in an Infiniti Q56 were smoking what appeared to be marijuana.  Police say they found three guns and marijuana inside the car.

Five people, including running back Laurence Maroney, were arrested and released. Maroney and the others could face drugs and weapons charges.  Police say they will wait for crime lab results before applying for warrants.

Jane Higgins, Maroney’s spokesperson says Maroney has a conceal and carry permit. However, Higgins also says Maroney did not have his permit Monday night because he didn’t have his wallet.

Laurence Maroney grew up in St. Louis and attended Normandy High School. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2006 and traded to Denver last year.

Maroney spends a lot of time in St. Louis and has been in the area helping victims of the New Year’s Eve tornado. He’s also been known to give back to his old high school.
