Burglars cut down and stole 40 marijuana plants from a west side medical dispensary early Friday, marking the fourth time the shop has been broken into since opening, according to Colorado Springs police and the owner of the business.
Just after 4 a.m., officers responded to Green Earth Wellness at 519 N. 30th St. after an alarm was activated in the shop. Police said they saw that the back door of the neighboring storefront, where the dispensary grows and cultivates its marijuana, was open.
The dispensary has been burglarized four times and robbed once, according to a man who identified himself as the owner but declined to give his name.
Other businesses in the same shopping center have been burglarized several times in recent years as well, said Darlene Kelley, who owns Old Town Pet Salon and Barkery there.
