Cannabis estimated at 1.1m euros seized at Dublin Port

A man from Northern Ireland has been arrested along with another man from the UK, after cannabis with an estimated street value of 1.1m euros was recovered at Dublin Port.  It was detected by a sniffer dog during a routine patrol by Irish Revenue and Customs staff.  The drugs were concealed in bags of woodchip and large food tins within a 40ft container, which arrived in Dublin Port from Holyhead on Thursday.

Both the truck and trailer were seized.  Customs officers seized 99kgs of cannabis resin and 44kgs of herbal cannabis. The men are being questioned at Store Street Garda Station.
