The plants were discovered near a former RAF airfield in Wigsley, which lies between Newark and Lincoln. Police searched the area after being contacted by a member of the public. A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drugs cultivation and later released on police bail pending further inquiries. The plants have been removed from the shelter and will be destroyed. It follows a raid in Newark in January, when Revenue and Customs officers seized about 3,000 cannabis plants with a street value of £1.5m from two industrial units.
