Court appearance for £2 million cannabis factory accused

A MAN has appeared in court in connection with a £2 million cannabis factory discovered by police.

Hung Tran is accused of growing the drug at the former Bridge Communications building in Hall Road, Heybridge.

The 43-year-old illegal Vietnamese immigrant has admitted growing 8,000 plants at the building in November last year.

Tran, of no fixed address made a brief appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court, but no charges were put to him and the case as adjourned.

The court heard there are others involved in the matter and the case will return to court next month.

Tran was remanded in custody.

There was no application for bail.

The cannabis factory was one of the biggest ever to be found in Essex, containing plants with a street value of £2million.
