Denver dives into marijuana regulation issue

pot leaf hbtv hemp beach tvThe Denver City Council today will meet in a special committee to take steps toward allowing retail marijuana shops, The Denver Post reports.

The council has 39 issues to consider, including whether to set the hours these pot stores would be allowed to operate.

Councilman Paul Lopez wants the council to consider his request that marijuana retailers be at least 2,500 from each other, and 2,500 feet from a child care center, school or drug and alcohol facility.

The current distance rules for medical-marijuana dispensaries is considerably less — 1,000 feet.
