Cmdr. Rich Demick said police and ambulance personnel were called at 8:20 p.m. to the BP Gas Station at 4802 Caton Farm Road where Shawn O’Neill, 18, had come with a stab wound to his ribs.
“He told officers he had gone to a residence in the Squire’s Mill subdivision to rob Jack Rafferty of the cannabis (Rafferty) was going to sell him,” Demick said.
O’Neill reportedly took out a knife when Rafferty, 18, brought out the marijuana. A struggle ensued with the would-be robber coming out on the losing end, police said.
Police went to the residence in the 3800 block of Squire’s Mill Road where the homeowner allowed them to search the property.
“No cannabis was found, but Rafferty was there and admitted he had it at another location,” Demick said. Police reportedly seized 105 grams of cannabis. Rafferty, of 2423 Caton Farm Road, was charged with delivery of cannabis and booked into the county jail.
O’Neill was treated for a nonlife-threatening injury. Police report it does not appear either man will be charged in relation to the stabbing at this time.
