Humble police seize 40 pounds of pot in traffic stop

Humble police confiscated approximately $40,000 worth of marijuana during a traffic stop Aug. 11. Authorities say patrol officer M. Bascus pulled over a passenger vehicle for a moving violation in the 20400 block of U.S. Hwy. 59 around 4 p.m. that afternoon and became suspicious when the driver’s story didn’t add up. “The department K-9 unit was called to the scene and indicated the presence of narcotics,” said Humble PD Sgt. Danny Lee. “A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over 40 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of the driver.”

Lee said the marijuana has an estimated local street value of $1,000 per pound to end consumers. Rudy Molina-Garcia, who in court records shows a Plainfield address, was booked into Harris County Jail for 3rd degree felony possession of marijuana. He posted a $40,000 bond Aug. 9 and has since pleaded guilty and reached a plea bargain. Molina-Garcia was subsequently sentenced to 4 years deferred adjudication and 120 hours of community service.
