Chicago Bears linebacker J.T. Thomas was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of less than 15 grams of marijuana early Monday morning. Thomas was a sixth-round pick of the Bears in 2011 but didn’t play due to a back injury. According to West Virginia News Network, Thomas was pulled over at 3:55 a.m. going the wrong way on a one-way street in Morgantown, W.V., home of the University of West Virginia where he went to college.
Thomas was asked to provide registration and pulled a bundle from the glove compartment that contained a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana, the criminal complaint obtained by the WV News Network said. As a freshman at WVU, Thomas was arrested for transferring and receiving stolen property. Police said the stolen item was a laptop computer. Those charges were dropped once Thomas completed a diversionary program.
