An 18-year-old Riverdale man was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less after police said they allegedly found loose marijuana scattered on the front seats of his vehicle, partially smoked marijuana cigarettes on the floorboards of the car, a residual amount of marijuana inside a locked safe in the trunk and several bags commonly used for packaging marijuana in the car on Friday.
Gregory M. Mish was stopped by Butler police on Route 23 North at about 2:03 p.m. for allegedly having faulty brake lights on his white Acura. Upon further investigation, police said they allegedly discovered an odor of marijuana. Police then allegedly found the marijuana in the car and, with help from the Pequannock Police Department Ptl. Ricciardi and his dog Jemma, located the marijuana in the safe in the trunk.
Mish was arrested and transported to the Butler police station. In addition to the drug charges, he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle with a controlled dangerous substance, failure to maintain lamps and failure to exhibit a valid driver’s license. He was released in his own recognizance with a ticket to appear in court at a later date. Police said the Kinnelon and Pequannock police departments assisted with the arrest.
