A 32-year-old man was arrested Thursday and charged with intent to sell drugs after he received over 8 pounds of marijuana in the mail, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Barnard Thames Lindsey, of Santa Rosa Beach, had a package of 8 and a half pounds of marijuana mailed to a home on Deitz Drive, according to his arrest report.
Law officers intercepted the package through the U.S. Postal Service and a postal worker made a controlled delivery to the house Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The woman who lived at the home told deputies that the package was for Lindsey, who did not live at the address. Two recorded cell phone calls were made to Lindsey to tell him the package had been delivered, according to the arrest report. Moments later he arrived at the home.
After Lindsey was arrested he told deputies that the woman was not involved in the transaction. Lindsey was being held in the Walton County Jail Friday with no bond.
