Police said a Fairfield man set off the fire alarms at Mercy Hospital by smoking marijuana in the visitors lounge.
Officers were dispatched to Mercy at 9:25 p.m. Thursday for a fire response. Hospital staff told the officers the alarms were set off by a man smoking marijuana in the hospital’s visitors lodge. Hospital staff had possession of the pipe and marijuana when officers arrived.
Police spoke with the man, 49-year-old David W. Buch, and could detect a strong smell of burnt marijuana coming from the visitors lounge. Police said Buch admitted to smoking marijuana in the room and that the bag of marijuana and pipe belonged to him.
Buch was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.
