The car being driven by Neil Farley Bloom, 50, of Plantation was stopped near Mile Marker 90 in Islamorada about 2 a.m. Wednesday after radar clocked his southbound vehicle going 62 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone, the sheriff’s office said.
According to officials, Sgt. Dennis Coleman noticed the strong odor of burnt marijuana. After questioning, Bloom handed over a small amount of the drug. Coleman and two other assisting deputies later found more marijuana and a plastic bag containing what’s believed to be hallucinogenic mushrooms inside the car’s trunk, the sheriff’s office said.
Bloom was charged with possessing marijuana. The mushrooms were being sent to a lab for analysis and additional charges are pending the results, authorities said.
