Marijuana package arrives in time for Christmas

Battle Creek police are investigating after a woman reported she received a package of marijuana two days before Christmas.

The woman told police she was leaving her home on Bidwell Street for the store Friday afternoon when a driver for UPS stopped her and delivered a package.

The woman said she opened the box before she realized it was actually addressed to a neighbor who has a similar last name. Inside the woman said she found something wrapped in black tape and smelled like bleach.

When she investigated further she found something which was not for her and she took the package to the Battle Creek Police Department. Officers reported checking the box about 6:06 p.m. and finding marijuana inside. The package was sent to Battle Creek from Tucson, Arizona. The case is being investigated by the department’s drug unit.
