Christopher Crowther, 33, has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking after he was stopped for a traffic violation Tuesday morning near St. George’s, according to police.
The 2003 Ford Focus with Nova Scotia licence plates he was driving was searched after Crowther was arrested for personal possession of a controlled substance.
The subsequent search of his vehicle resulted in an additional 20 kilograms of marijuana being seized, police said.
Crowther appeared in court in Stephenville Wednesday morning and was released on $2,500 bail.
He’s allowed to return to Nova Scotia, but he was ordered to make a court appearance in Newfoundland at the end of March.
