Marijuana Worth $1 Million Stashed On Vandenberg Air Force Base

vandenberg airforce base hbtv hemp beach tvA stash of marijuana valued at about one million dollars was discovered on the beach at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

According to Colonel Nina Armagno, the pot was discovered just north of Wall Beach by a pair of Vandenberg AFB “members” about 12:50 p.m. on March 7.

The base’s security threat level was increased as authorities searched for suspects, Armagno said.

The marijuana was “wrapped” in dark trash bags and “stacked” in surrounding brush in what appeared to be an attempt to camouflage it.

A 20-foot aluminum panga boat, the type popular with Mexican drug smugglers and human traffickers, was found overturned with its engine disconnected and nearby.

Authorities on base conducted random searches of vehicles, but no suspects were found.

A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department helicopter and California Highway Patrol airplane assisted in the search.

ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations has now taken over the investigation, according to a base statement.
