North Augusta cops find marijuana in truck

Department of Public Safety officers checking on a suspicious person Sunday eventually recovered a “large quantity” of marijuana and a stolen handgun, a report states.

A woman called police about 8:30 p.m. after someone knocked on her door on the first block of Leigh Place. Officers said they found Mark Buchmiller, 33, sitting in a pickup truck in front of 30 Leigh Place and arrested him on an Aiken County warrant.

An inventory of the vehicle before it was towed turned up loose marijuana inside and a backpack holding a “large quantity” of marijuana in a freezer bag and a 9-mm handgun reported stolen in Richmond County, a report states.

Buchmiller, of the first block of Freeman Street, Gloverville, was charged with possession of a stolen handgun and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
