Philadelphia man was charged with marijuana possession and treated for hypothermia after his car ran off the road in Middle Township and sank in a creek. Middle Township police said in a news release that about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to Wildwood Boulevard after reports of a man wearing all black, who was standing on the side of the road. When officers arrived, they found Daniel Carty, 31, wet and shivering from cold. He was disoriented and confused. Police learned that the car he was driving ran off the road and into a tidal creek. The car was fully submerged. Middle Township rescue squad arrived to treat Carty for hypothermia and a member of Middle Township’s dive team went into the water to confirm there were no other victims. After the car was removed from the water, police found suspected marijuana in it. Carty was arrested and charged with possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and several motor vehicle offenses. He was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for hypothermia.
