Today in cool-things-happening: Seattle police sniffer dogs are having to be retrained due to the newly legalized marijuana laws.
The I-502 law – which effectively legalizes marijuana in the state of Washington – recently came into effect. The author of the law, Alison Holcomb, believes that the retraining of the sniffer dogs is a good thing, saying: “Moving forward, it makes most sense not to train dogs to alert to marijuana as that would likely lead to unwarranted investigatory detentions of people who are not breaking any law.”
While the retraining began in January, now the two months of retraining are almost up – prompting an entire fleet of sniffer dogs that are going to be super chill around pot, according to KATU in Seattle.
