Police find 11 Pounds of Marijuana in Traffic Stop of an Orlando Man

Running a stop sign late Tuesday landed an Orlando motorist nearly a dozen felonies and a traffic violation after police followed the smell of marijuana from the man’s car back to his home.

The odor of burned cannabis wafted out as soon as Jose Mandes rolled down the window of his silver BMW after being pulled over about 10 p.m. on Curry Ford Road, according to Orlando police.

Upon being questioned, Mandes admitted he had un-prescribed sedatives in the car and police found pills and more than $1,000 cash folded in denominations common to drugs sales, an arrest report states.

Asked if he had any drugs at home, Mandes told officers Reinaldo Rivero and Derek Briscoe they could search his Dahlia Village Circle apartment but gave them the wrong address and wrong name for his wife. When contacted, Mandes’ wife and mother of their two children gave police permission to search their home, the report states.
