Police Find Pot Growing In New Castle ‘Intruder’ Shooting

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Police say they found four assault rifles and 30 marijuana plants growing in a western Pennsylvania home where a hatchet-wielding intruder was allegedly shot by the homeowner. New Castle police say 41-year-old Jeffrey Walker has not been charged in the shooting, but was in custody Thursday on marijuana growing charges that stemmed from a search following the shooting. Police say Walker shot 25-year-old Christopher Donofrio several times in the face and torso after Donofrio broke through a window and approached Walker with a hatchet and folding knife shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday. Donofrio was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, where his condition was not immediately available. Walker was awaiting arraignment and it wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
