Radio Host Pleads Guilty in Pot Grow House Bust

A conservative South Florida talk show host quietly pleaded guilty to two felonies in connection with his running a marijuana growing operation at his home in Miami Shores. The plea deal, entered earlier this month, mandates WZAB-880 The Biz morning host Edward Woodson to serve three years probation. He was also sentenced to $25,000 in fines, according to court records.

Unbeknownst to his business and GOP politics listeners at 7 p.m. weekdays, Woodson was arrested in December 2010 by Miami-Dade cops and accused of running a major wicked weed distribution and growing operation out of his NE 92nd Street home. Woodson does dole out investment advise on the show although it’s not his main thrust. Woodson, 50, had no comment after he was reached via email sent to The Edward Woodson Show. Woodson’s bio on his website claims he is an actor, model, real estate investor and a lawyer. He did have a small role as a ball player on Major League II.

Radio station General Manager Tony Calatayud said Woodson is not an employee of the Sweetwater station. Woodson pays for the air time, Calatayud said. “We have no comment about our programmers,” he said. Does the station have any standards when it comes to hosts? “We do have standards, and I’ll discuss them with anyone who’ll come to the station,” he said.
