Razer Switchblade Portable Gaming Concept Will Blow You Away

The Razer Switchblade may be the most impressive device to come out of CES 2011. There, I said it. Razer announced the development of an innovative “concept design” that would bring PC gaming to a portable form. It’s powered by an Intel Atom processor and uses touch-screens rather than the traditional mouse and keyboard. It’s still in developmental stages but the fact that this is being worked on at all is worth noting, even if we don’t know when or if it will get mass produced.

The new 7-inch device doesn’t have an official title, it has been codenamed the Razer Siwtchblade. It replaces the traditional keyboard and mouse interface with ultra-sensitive touch screens and tactile keyboard. The keyboard is an actual LCD screen covered with keys. The buttons would change with the game you’re playing. “By combining adaptive on-the-fly controls and display, we managed to maintain the full tactile keyboard in a miniature computer while saving valuable screen estate.”

Razer hasn’t released any specs, price points or any immediate plans to put this device into production. Let’s see a show of hands, who hopes this becomes a reality really soon?
