Seth Rogen turned Kevin Smith into a Pothead!? *VIDEO*

Seth Rogan, the slap-happy Judd Apatow muse, and Green Hornet star had a marked impact on the marijuana use of one Kevin Smith.  Smith, the famed director of such indie hits as Mallrats, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the good Clerks, and the bad Clerks II, wasn’t always a pothead, much to the chagrin of aspiring New Jersey film-makers that smoke every day while they write their “script.”

When Smith filmed Rogen in the (surprisingly tame) Zach and Miri Make a Porno, he witnessed Rogen’s smoking habits, and couldn’t believe how much he got done.  Read on to find out how marijuana gave Smith a “second wind” for his career (with video).

It seems that Rogen had been bugging Smith to get high all through the filming.  Smith wasn’t a regular user, but one day relented as they headed into the editing room:

“I went up to him and was like, ‘How about we go to the editing room tonight, watch some cut footage, and maybe share a joint?'” Smith recalled. “He goes, ‘Finally!’ And it was awesome. We sat back, watched some footage and sat there smoking. And I loved who I was. I loved how the inhibition dropped away and I loved just being honest.”

Smith said the last two years of his life have been his most productive, including finishing two films and launching a podcast network on the Web, all thanks to the power of the herb.

Marijuana truly did save Smith’s career as he did Cop Out last year, and has Red State coming out in October this year.  No word on whether marijuana really does make you more productive from a scientific standpoint, but lets just go with it.  Kevin Smith is rarely wrong (well Cop Out wasn’t the best, but you know what I mean).
