The Green Cross, a mobile medical cannabis dispensary in San Francisco, is delighted to announce a complete redesign of the packaging for their entire line of medical cannabis edibles, IncrediMeds. The packaging is the final phase of a total redesign started by The Green Cross a few months ago in response to revised labeling and packaging guidelines issued by the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH). The new labels are designed to better inform users that the product is medicine, not food, and to make the product unattractive/unappealing to children. The new packaging has a fresh, sleek, new look and underscores The Green Cross’ commitment to strict adherence to the law and patient safety.
“Our new packaging complies with the new regulations, enhances safety, and integrates the flare and style that The Green Cross is known for,” said Kevin Reed, founder and president of The Green Cross, one of the leading San Francisco medical cannabis dispensaries.
Earlier this year, the DPH revised its guidelines for packaging of medical cannabis edibles. Among other specifications, the label must: state if potential allergens are present in the edible; specify the amount of cannabis in the product; clearly say that the product and is a medicine, not a food; and warn to keep away from children. In addition, the label must be opaque, and must not be designed to look like candy or other treats that appeal to children. In order to comply with these changes, The Green Cross immediately altered their labels to conform to the new packaging rules and language required by the DPH.
The new IncrediMeds packaging is safe, attractive, and easy to read. The language on the packaging fully conforms to the new DPH requirements. Each medicinal edible product is individually packaged for light and moisture protection, and the package can be resealed. The updated and color-coded labels make product identification simple. Moreover, all images of the edible product have been removed from the label, the product names have been changed to make them more descriptive (e.g. Blueberry Craze Cookie is now simply named Blueberry Cookie) all while appearing unattractive to children.
“We started introducing these new packages to our members several weeks ago, and the response has been overwhelming,” continued Reed. “Members find them discreet and functional.”
