Police are investigating a Troy teen after they say he assaulted and cut a Rochester teen’s lip with a knife while negotiating a marijuana sale. “It was a marijuana sale gone bad,” said Troy Police Officer Andy Breidenich. “The victim was the one doing the selling.” Both teens are 18 years old and were at a house in the 1000 block of Fleetwood in Troy when the assault happened about 12:15 a.m. Monday, police said.
Other young people were at the house drinking and witnessed the assault when the Troy teen tried to rob the marijuana seller, police said. “The buyer of the marijuana wanted it for free and ended up in a fight with the seller,” Breidenich said. The two teens struggled and suffered minor injuries during their fight. The Rochester teen left the house and got in his car, police said. He drove his car onto the lawn where the Troy teen and several others were, police said.
The Rochester teen drove to Troy Beaumont Hospital for treatment and police were called to the hospital. Police interviewed the teen and went to the house where the assault happened, police said. Police said witnesses and the two teens involved in the attack gave varying versions of what happened. Officers seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the house, but did not locate a knife, police said.
