The shooting is being linked to a burglary in Whitbourne.

A man in his 20s was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of burglary.
West Mercia Police said they made another arrest overnight. The man, also in his 20s, was arrested at an address in the West Midlands and is now being held on suspicion of burglary.

The police said they were not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the two incidents on Wednesday night.

Officers said that officers carrying out forensic work at the property in Whitbourne had discovered a cannabis cultivation “operation” inside.

Det Supt Ivan Powell said: “I can confirm that as a result of this discovery at the property the man in his 60s who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has also now been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of controlled drugs.”

He added: “One of our lines of enquiry is attempting to establish whether the individuals involved knew each other prior to the events of last night.”

The shot man is being treated at Worcestershire Royal Hospital for gunshot wounds to his leg.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.
